Well, I was just reading my blog posts that I made last year and feel motivated to create more posts and keep up with this blog. It has been about a year since my last post, but I have still been playing poker full time for team SMD (bax/sheets).
Since my last post I have played in various tournaments including playing 15 events in the 2008 WSOP. During last years WSOP i stayed with Faraz "the-toilet" Jaka and Curt "ayellowvette" householder in a rio suite throught the events. It was not a particularly good world series for me with only 2 minimum cashes and a final table placing 9th at the belagio in there friday $2k tourney. Also, this past january I played in the Borgata winter poker open. I was extremely happy with the field sizes, but the organization on borgata's part was unacceptable including not having enough chips or floors to cater to the amount of players they had.
After the WSOP finished I stopped renting my house in LA and moved back to maryland to be closer to my girlfriend who lives in NY and closer to my family. It has actually been much more relaxing and very refreshing to be back in Maryland and not traveling so much and closer to everybody.
This past fall was great for online poker I had several final tables in the stars and full tilt $1k's and 100r's along with a win in the Pokerstars $320 quarter million guarantee. Since then I have been focusing on playing less volume and enjoying other aspects of life outside of poker. This year has only brought me one win and it was in the full tilt $100 1 rebuy 1 addon event on sunday Jan 11th. But, I have had numerous top 100 finshes in the sunday majors.
Over the last 6 months I have become fairly active on a forum called Part time poker and have met several new poker players that I am coaching who are well on there way to success. This has really brought in a new element to my game by creating videos on camstasia while viewing their hand history files in a universal replayer. Also, on occassion I am allowing a select few players to view my sessions using a screen sharing software.
Lately online poker tournaments have been getting much less passive as they use to be and much more aggressive than in previous years, so I have been studying and adjusting my game to cater to this new standard of playing. My shortstack tournament skills have tremendously increased over the last few months since this is absolutely essential to doing well in online poker tournaments today.
The direction I would like to take with this blog is to provide not only information about my poker life but blending in my life events as well. Anything you would like to see covered in this blog feel free to leave some comments.
